Dave Clamp

’10 Million Metres’ is an extraordinary challenge.

Alex Flynn & Dave Clamp

It’s a challenge set by Dave Clamp’s friend, Alex Flynn.

Alex is a 38 year-old, happily married father of two lively boys.  He rides motorcycles, sings in bands, runs ultra marathons and enjoys adventure racing.

He also has Parkinson’s disease.

He was diagnosed with this currently incurable disease in June 2008. Rather than accept that this is his lot, he decided to get the most out of life and undertook the Marathon des Sables in 2009; raising almost £2000 for charity.  However, he believes that he can improve on this and really make change happen!

Together with some really top friends, like Dave Clamp, (who will be providing essential support) Alex will run a number of difficult events, some of which are the toughest races and courses in the world. These include the  recently completed Marathon des Sables 2010 (where he became the first Parkinson’s sufferer to complete the 250km race across the Sahara in temperatures averaging over 140ºF) and more. In short, Alex is aiming to push himself to cover over 10 million metres (over 6000 miles) – each one of which will be a challenge as he battles the effects of Parkinson’s whilst raising  money for research into finding a cure!

Dave Clamp is very proud to support Alex and has been privileged to have accompanied him on the Europe135, a non-stop 135 mile race in Bavaria, in September 2010.  You can read about their amazing journey here.
