Dave Clamp

Dave has been working hard to build up a buffer lead and thought he was about 15 -20 laps in the lead when he came in for a 30 minute food break at 14.30 hrs.  He has been lapping the 2nd place competitor every 4 laps since lunch and was stunned to hear me say the screen shows only 3 laps.  The race organizers say this is because laps recorded earlier this week were not reported on the display but had now been added on for a number of cyclists.  I am not convinced really because the chap that is the only person capable of doing this has only just arrived so I am puzzled as to how this can happen.  I have asked for the complete log of time recording so I can see for myself just to be sure.

It appears we have been relying on inaccurate lap reports to gauge Dave’s effort and he is a bit demoralized by the news after all his hard work over the last 10 hours.

Watch this space!

He has completed 815 laps so far according to the screen here compared to the 812 laps by the 2nd placed competitor.

Just think of it as Bolton v United – they’ll ALWAYS be given the benefit of doubt by any ref, BUT Bolton can still win!
    Don’t get made, get focussed.

H on your shoulder mate. Steady, steady, steady.
Take care – thinking of you and sending you good vibes.

I seem to recall chip problems last time round too. Don’t let the b….. get you down Dave, you are better than that.

    Hi Dave
The same problems as usual. No need to worry. It’s such a long way to go. Remember: You won the war, and 1966.
    Cheers
    Arthur

John, I think most of us were nonplussed by the change in the lead yesterday, when it suddenly dropped from 24 to 3.Think you should really scrutinise the evidence. Makes a big difference doesn’t it? Wonder what all the other close observers think? But don’t let it divert us from the great job the two of you are doing – very proud of you both.Allen
