Ready to go

November 10, 2010

It’s Wednesday night 11.04.  I’ve just finished packing… Taxi arrives at 5am.

The last few days have been frantic – I apologise for the unanswered calls/texts . We should have plenty of time at Heathrow and Houston tomorrow to put that right. I thank Joanna for the wonderful job she has done in designing this site. I’m quite overwhelmed by the messages of support I’ve had- it means so much to know that people are right behind me.  John Saunders is going to a brilliant support man – he will be updating this space at every available moment and sending pictures to Joanna , who will transfer them onto the site.  I’m looking forward to meeting up with him again in Terminal 5 at Heathrow tomorrow morning.

The Bolton News and Sale/Altrincham Messenger will be carrying stories in the next few days for those of you who live in those areas. If anyone reading those can get a link to Joanna , she will post them onto the media page.

Please remember too that as well as doing the race for me, I am raising funds for the Cure Parkinson’s trust– If you follow the link to 10 Million metres, it will lead you to Alex Flynn and the JustGiving link.  If everyone gives £1 it would make such a difference (273 hits on this site so far this week— £273 would have brought a big smile to Mr Flynn’s face.)  His belief in me, since I ran the 135 mile race in Germany with him, has really inspired me to train hard and give it all I have at the Deca.

Thanks also to Brian New– a link to an interview he has done with me should be on here tomorrow– I will proudly be wearing his ‘Running with H‘ shirt during the race and listening to his brother Howard’s music. (Howard was a very talented musician and was tragically killed in a car crash last year) — and Louise, the Stragglers hat will be in evidence — I’ll be thinking of you all the way.

I spent 2 hours this evening doing some intense visualisation work with Tricia LLoyd and I’m really going to see the benefit of this during the race— thanks Tricia, you’re an inspiration to me.
We’ll update you tomorrow– please keep the messages coming– they mean so much when the going gets tough.  Bonne Nuit
