Well lots of things have happened since Mexico in November…
The venture into public speaking was especially memorable. Many thanks to Brian New for promoting me at CFS and to all the staff there who made it such a special occasion. You can see the powerpoint for the talk on the site. The big focus was on positive energy, ordinary people achieving extraordinary things and aiming for the stars. I hope to continue with this line of work and will be returning to CFS for some follow up discussions.
Since the Deca I have made a full commitment to my friend Alex Flynn and our campaign to find a cure for Parkinson’s. Tomorrow sees our next venture together – the Thames Trot, a 50 mile race from Oxford to Alex’s home town of Henley. It will be great to see Alex again and to discuss plans for our ‘Epic’ in June/July when we will be running from Marble Arch to Rome. Alex has done an incredible job in securing sponsorship for the Ten Million Metres campaign and this run will really raise the profile of the campaign to a new level.
Then in October I will be making another attempt at the Deca world record in Sicily — the aim is to seek sponsorship based on performance to raise funds for the Parkinson’s cause. I’m hoping that the recent 5 page article in 220 magazine is going to help to further raise our profile and to enable sponsorship to be forthcoming.
I’ve met some inspirational people through my contact with Alex , people who can motivate and make change happen.
