
So who is Dave Clamp?
Some brief info:
Dave was born on: February 22nd 1959
Dave lives in: Cheshire, England, UK
Dave likes: Led Zeppellin, Police, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Howard New, James, The Jam, Paul Weller, The Script, Neil Young, Kings of Leon, Jack Johnson, Crowded House, Elton John, The Eagles, Tina Turner, Bowie, Coldplay.
Profession: With over 20 years experience as a Teacher, Dave has taught French, German, Games, English and Personal Social Education mostly in the UK , but also in New Zealand, France and Germany. He is also still available for French/German private GCSE tutoring (Dave spent 10 years working for an exam board as a GCSE examiner). He also holds a Level 1 Counselling qualification.
Dave now specialises in outdoor and home personal training, www.daveclamppersonaltrainer.co.uk As an athlete, Dave has shown the progress that can be made with perseverance and effort.
“I doubt whether my PE teacher at school would even remember me, but I have since gone on to be part of the Elite GB Ironman Team that won a European Championships silver medal in 1995.”
- Dave has run over 100 marathons with a best time of 2.35 ( Manchester 1997) and done hundreds of other running races over many distances on the roads, fells and cross country.
- In Triathlon, Dave has an Ironman best time of 8 hours 59 mins ( The Longest Day race 1997) and has completed the distance about 40 times.
- He has also been GB Team Manager for the Ironman team.
In 1999, Dave started doing longer races, winning his first Double Ironman that year in Holland in 23 hours.
In 2002, he came 3rd in the European Championships in 20 hrs 34 mins and 8th in the World Champs in Canada.
Dave has completed the Triple Ironman Distance 10 times, coming 5th in the World Championships in 2000.
Most recently, Dave came 11th in the World Championships in July 2010. www.triathlonlensahn.de
In November 2008, Dave competed in the Deca Ironman for the first time (Click here for Dave’s diary of this amazing event) – the race is a 24 mile swim , 1120 mile bike and 262 mile run (10 marathons to you and me!). After 131 miles of the run, Dave was in the lead and on course for the world record when injury struck. He eventually finished the race by limping the last 5 marathons… However ….
in November 2010, Dave is returning to the Deca Ironman Championships, in Mexico,for an attempt at the World Record
Dave has also become involved in supporting an inspirational and outstanding individual.. Alex Flynn. Click here to find out more about Alex’s incredible 10 Million Metres Challenge In September 2010, Dave was Alex’s support runner as he competed in the Europe 135 www.europe135.eu. The race started near Munich and finished in Mittenwald in The Alps at 2244 meters above sea level. In total it includes over 4000m of climbing ( 13000 feet !!! 4 x Scafell Pike). Dave’s world record Deca race was run in support Parkinson’s and Alex’s quest.
